Stream of Conciousness

Stream, streams.  Streaming.  Pee,  Online video, Netflix.

Netflix is great and full of great storeis.  I’m partial towards the sad ones lately myself though.

Though,  Trough,  Through,  Through my heart,  Through the loop,  Loop de loop and pull,  Spongebob,  Yellow,  Sponge, Porous,  Pore,  Poor,  Pouring my heart out.

I gotta stop sharing my tumblr url with people.

People, peeps, sugary treats, easter, Jesus, the girls I dated that liked Jesus, girls, girl, guuuuurl, girls and boys, and dating

I don’t think I’m in any place to date.  I feel so ugly lately, but I swear I’m working on it.

It, clowns, movies, entertainers, storytellers, escapism, anime, and video games, playing games, not playing games, being upfront, and direct, and honest

I think I’m still a bit caught up on my last dose of honesty, honestly, but uh honest is something I should be more of, really.

Honesty, self-acceptance, self-improvement, Home Improvement, Tim Allen, Toy Story, Stories.

This will all make for a good story somewhere down the line, hopefully.  Maybe a Netflix show.

My Shiny Teeth and Me

My life has only had two parts.
The part where I didn’t floss regularly.
And the part where I do.
Time and gingivitis wait for no man
And I floss only for myself

This is now a book review blog!

The Little Prince
by Antoine de Saint Exupery
(translated from French)

Uhm, it was pretty good, I guess.  The back cover described it as one of a few stories “that in some way, in some degree, change the world forever for their readers.”  Which is a pretty big claim, man!  I’m not so sure I’m a changed person, but I do see where this small novella gets its “classic” status from.  It has a nice story book tone to it, and insights to match.  The prose is very pretty, and I don’t believe much is lost in the translation. It reminded me a lot of The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster (which I still need to return to my friend, shoot), especially with all the commentary on adult life filtered through a surrealism and a child’s perspective.  The biggest emphasis seems to be paid to the bit with the fox - loving roses and uh taming things.  Which, after looking up more about Antoine himself, I think reads a lot closer to autobiography than adult fable.  A lot of the seemingly random imagery in fact makes a lot more sense given that context - the volcanoes and baobab trees for example.

Eh, so yeah it was okay.  It was really short and easy to read and touched on some issues that will probably be relevant in most people’s lives regardless of age.  And as one last note, this book is also known for how widely it’s been adapted for so many different languages and mediums. In particular, I’m looking forward to watching the animated movie on Netflix sometime soon.

A List of Personal Philosophies Borrowed and Wrought

Do what you can with what you have - from my own self from a time when no one else seemed to care

It’s never too late to be better - from someone I deeply respect and admire whom I still managed to disappoint

Do what you have to do - from someone I honestly still kind of miss

Be honest, Be Genuine - from someone with big dreams and a soft spot for for Taylor Swift.

You can either do something or do nothing - from the coldest, most withholding someone I still call my good friend and mentor.

Words are cheap, but these - I hold on to.
